Proper Care and Maintenance

How do you care for your hair? Here are some tips to keep your products tip top.

Cleanse and Condition Regularly

Experts recommend washing the hair at least once a week, and especially after swimming in chlorinated water. To protect the hair, use of paraben and sulfate-free shampoos and deep conditioners are highly recommended to protect the luster of the hair and sustain its longevity.

Getting the Tangles Out

If you allow the hair to get tangled and remove tangles harshly, this results in breakage, slippage, and damage to the hair. Comb and brush the hair regularly to maintain its highest quality. Do not pull or force combs or brushes through the hair. When working out tangles, always work from the bottom up, reaching the root of the hair shaft.

Treatments and Styling

To avoid weighing down the hair, take care not to apply too many products.  Instead, we recommend you use a very small amount of argan oil or something similar for additional luster.  If lifting or bleaching the extensions, we recommend you seek the assistance of a professional colorist to ensure you do not damage the hair.  Attempting to do this at home can result in damage to the extensions, as in breakage and dry brittle spots that are irreparable.

Shedding: Normal vs Excess

All extensions shed to some degree, but there are some factors that can cause excessive shedding. In most cases, improper technique for cleansing and styling the hair or lack of maintenance is the cause of excessive shedding. Some things that can cause this problem include combing the hair too much and roughly. Badly tangled hair could be the result of too much scrubbing during shampooing and improper use of harsh chemicals.
